Looks like Rudd is going to increase migration. In general I have no problems with higher levels of migration, especially at a time when the labor market is tight. Also if theres a shortage in semi and unskilled workers it makes sense to allow such people in. My concern is that we bring in people who can integrate into Australian society. Lowering the requirement for English is not a good idea. Nor is bringing in people from cultures with poor track record of assimilation. I think we can do without any further expansion of the multiculturalism nonsense. Having an Australian nation requires a national identity, not multiculturalism.
